Death Takes Gary Wells, 64

DEXTER: After a valiant struggle of many months’ duration, Gary Wells finally succumbed April 11 at the Dexter Hospital. Services were held at the Dexter Methodist Church, Monday, April 14 by Rev. John Latta. Music was furnished by Eleanor Chapler, organist, and Robert Lawson, soloist. In charge of flowers were Esther Mount, Thelma Lenocker, and Miriam Jurgensen.

Named as casket bearers were Paul Lenocker, Dean Schirm, Dean Stiles, Donald Willeke, Max Mount and Chuck Jurgensen. Interment was at the Dexter Cemetery by the Evans Service.

Gerald G. Wells, son of George and Olga Wells, was born June 25th, 1904, in Exira, Iowa, and passed away at the Dexter Clinic Hospital April 11, 1969, after having known for three years that he was a victim of cancer.

He attended schools in Winterset and Dexter, and was united in marriage with Leone Coulter on October 30, 1927. To them were born five children.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife, Leone (Bill) and five children: Robert, Richard, and Paul of Dexter, Iowa, and Virginia Bond of Earlham, Iowa, and Connie Weber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There are seventeen grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will long remember his friendly smile and kindly acts of good will, including his three brothers and two sisters: Russell Wells and Marvin Wells and Mrs. Florence Lenocker of Dexter; Mrs. Doris Keating of Winterset, Ia., and Glenn Wells of Tyler, Texas.

Mr. Wells farmed until 1953, at which time he engaged in construction work. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Dexter, and was active in the Odd Fellows Lodge.
