After a lengthy illness of nearly 9 months, during which she was bed-fast practically all of the time, Suvilla Kauffman departed this life last Thursday morning, Dec. 14, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She was born on Mar. 29, 1884, in a farm home south of Dexter. Her parents were Jacob and Anna Kauffman. She was baptized as an infant in Zion Lutheran and later on became a communicant member by the rite of confirmation. She remained a loyal, active, and devout member of Zion Church all her life.

In the year 1921 she moved to a home in the town of Dexter, where she lived until her death with her sister, Mrs. Amelia Penn.

The deceased was never married, but she and her sister did provide a home for 2 of their nieces: Mrs. Florence Kauffman Lenz, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Mrs. Neoma Kauffman Snook, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Immediate surviving mourners include 2 brothers: Adolph Kauffman, of Long Beach, Calif., and William Kauffman, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Less, of Menlo, Ia. And Mrs. Amelia Penn of Dexter, Iowa.
