Death of W. H. Gaston

W. H. Gaston, well known here as the brother of J. J. Gaston, of this place, died in Des Moines Monday evening from the effects of a stroke of paralysis which occurred only a few hours previous to his death. He had suffered for some months from a previous stroke and was in Des Moines taking treatment at the time of his death. He was taken to the home of his cousin, Mr. Gilchrist Monday afternoon at 3:30 when he was taken to the hospital where he died at 7 o’clock. The funeral took place yesterday from the residence of his step-sister and was conducted by Dr. Breeden.

Mr. Gaston was born in 1841. For over thirty years he was in the employ of the postoffice department as mail clerk on the railroad and was following that vocation when he became incapacitated. He is survived by one son who lives in Ohio, his wife having died many years ago.
