SUDDEN DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT

Andrew C. Johnson, former Madison county farmer, died at his home in Menlo Monday night, following a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Johnson had not been ill and his sudden death came as a shock to the community. He was 56 years old.

Mr. Johnson was born in Jefferson county, Wisconsin April 25, 1873. He came with his parents to Iowa when he was three years old and lived in Madison county until about three years ago when he went to Menlo where he had purchased a restaurant.

He was married April 12, 1899 to Rose Farris. Of the six children born to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, three died in infancy and those who survive are the sons, Ralph and Earl of Winterset, and a daughter, Lucile Johnson, of Menlo. Others who survive are his wife and three brothers, Charles and Ernest of Winterset; William of Des Moines, and other relatives.

Mr. Johnson was a member of both the United Brethren and Methodist churches. After a short service at the home this morning (Thursday) the body was brought to Winterset and funeral rites held at the United Brethren church north of Winterset; burial was in the church cemetery.
