DEAD IN THE CRIB

Infant Child of Rex McClintic Smothers in its Crib

Mrs. Rex McClintic, thinking her baby boy had been quiet long enough went to its crib Thursday morning and pulled back the cover. The child was lying on its face and when she turned it over she was horrified to find it black in the face. Assistance was promptly called and a physician had hold of the child in a minute or two, but it was too far gone and was probably dead when its mother found it.

The child was about three months old. It had not been well for a week or two but there was nothing to cause alarm. It slept in a crib beside its parents. At four o’clock Thursday morning, Mrs. McClintic got up and gave the baby a bottle of milk and went back to bed. She got up again about seven and the baby making no noise she wondered at its sleeping so soundly. The child was lying on its face on a pillow and the crib was tipped so that it had rolled down into a depression so that it was unable to turn over. Mr. and Mrs. McClintic were only married last winter. He works with his father in the marble business.
