Services Held For Joseph Earp, 80

Services were held October 20, at the Fisher Funeral Home here, for Joseph Jackson Earp, who passed away at his home here at the age of 80 years.

Born in Madison County in 1876 he was a second cousin to Wyatt Earp, famous sheriff of the early West.

Rev. T. D. Russell, pastor of the Open Bible Church here officiated at the services. Casket bearers were Vern Magill, Bill Hurst, Arlo Aldrich, Ralph Merical, Gene Ellis and Bert Knapp. Soloist was Robert G. Fisher, accompanied by Mrs. Miriam Caudron. Burial was at the Van Meter Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Rachel; four children, Mrs. Vern Wilkie of Earlham; Mrs. Eddie Evans of Des Moines; Earl Earp of LaCrosse, Wisc. and Darrell Earp of Earlham. A son Otis was killed during World War II. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
