Page 2, Column 7Scranton—Funeral services for Orie Merle McNeley, 52-year-old Scranton man, were conducted at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4, from the Scranton Methodist church. The Rev. E. L. Stone was in charge. Interment was made in the Scranton cemetery.
Assisting with the services were Mrs. John F. Thomas, organist, and Mrs. Earl F. Christensen who sange, “The Lord’s Prayer” and “My Jesus As Thou Wilt.” Casket bearers were Elmer Eberle, John Stroud, Allen Mosier, Bert Morden, Phil Olmstead and A. E. Duff.
Orie Merle McNeley, son of John S. and Emma J. McNeley, was born March 23, 1895, at Winterset and died at his home at Scranton, Feb. 2, 1948. He spent his early childhood and early manhood at Winterset and Des Moines.
He was united in marriage with Genevieve Smith on Oct. 22, 1923, at Sioux Falls, S. D.
Mr. McNeley came to Scranton 21 years ago and had lived here continuously ever since. He was a member of the Scranton Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Maj. And Mrs. W. W. Lockett of Galesburg, Ill.; a grandson, Currie Lockett of Galesburg, Ill.; four sisters, Verna Flesher of Minneapolis, Minn., Iva Mikesh of Green Bay, Wis., Mrs. Martin Benson of Madrid and Mrs. Fred Long of Boone, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
