L. F. Baker was born in Clarke county, Iowa, November 9th, 1882, where he grew up on the farm. He was married to Miss Edith May Guthrie, January 16th, 1908. To this union were born two children, Floyd Melvin and Dorothy May. About ten years ago Mr. Baker with his family moved to Truro, where he resided until the evening of April 15th, 1927, when he passed to the Great Beyond, being aged 44 years, 5 months and 6 days.

In October, 1920, during a union revival meeting under the leader of Evangelist Frederick Cooper, Mr. Baker and his wife and son, Floyd Melvin, all were converted and united with the Methodist church of Truro.

Mr. Baker was an honorable, industrious man, a kind and loving husband, a good neighbor, and a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors as well as by wife and children and brothers and kindred.

Funeral services were conducted at Truro in the M. E. church by Rev. Frederick Cooper, the Knights of Pythias, of which Mr. Baker was a member, assisting. Interment was made in the cemetery at Murray, Iowa, April 18th.
