People of Van Meter and community were grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Lucia Cook on Wednesday morning. She had not been enjoying the best of health for some time but was able to be up and about her household duties until Sunday evening when she suddenly grew worse suffering from a heart ailment and steadily grew worse until Wednesday when she passed away. Funeral services were held at the Fisher funeral home. Interment was in the family lot in Chapel cemetery.

Lucia Adams was born near Viraqua, Wisconsin on June 9, 1860 and died March 6, 1935 at her home in Van Meter.

Mrs. Cook came to Winterset with her parents in 1876, and she has lived in Madison and Dallas counties ever since. In 1883 she was united in marriage to Frank E. Cook who preceded her in death twelve years ago.

She leaves to mourn her passing a son and a daughter, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cook has long been a member of the Methodist church. For some time she has been the teacher of the E. L. class in the Sunday school. She had also been a faithful worker in the ladies aid society.
