Ora Leander Mackey, youngest son of Jess and Amanda Mackey, was born April 1, 1880 in Lucas county, Iowa, and departed this life at his home near St. Mary’s, Iowa, July 7, 1925, at the age of 45 years, 3 months and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Ollie E. Fisher at Osceola, on July 1, 1903. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Ethel Mills of Weldon, and Glen and Twyla, who are both at home.
He has been in failing health for a long time and the past nine weeks has been bedfast. He was conscious to the last and called his wife to his bedside and told he was going to leave her and was prepared to go and bade them all goodbye. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and three children; two grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. W. A. Crist of Woodburn and two brothers, Ed of Monmouth, Ill. and Jess of Osceola.
Funeral services were held at his home near St. Marys, July 9th, conducted by Rev. W. L. Torrence of St. Charles, and his remains were laid to rest in the Young cemetery, east of Truro.
