Page 1George R. Freeman was born at Barrington, Cook county, Illinois, on April 1, 1845 and died at the home of a daughter in New Virginia, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1910, aged 64 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was married to Christina M. Garlieb, December 22, 1872. To this union were born four children: two daughters, Mrs. Laura Forbes and Mrs. W. L. Leonard; and two sons, Elmer and Charley Freeman, all of whom with the wife are left to mourn the loss of a loving father and husband.
Mr. Freeman came to Iowa about thirty-five years ago, where he has since made his home with the exception of three and one-half years spent in New Mexico. Mr. Freeman had been in ailing health for some time but was not considered in a critical condition until about three weeks ago, when the end came as stated above.
Funeral services were conducted at Union Chapel by Rev. George of the M. E. church of St. Charles on Tuesday of this week, and interment made at Union Chapel cemetery.
