Joe Cooper, an old time resident of this county, died Tuesday at his home near Union Chapel, after an illness of three years from cancer. Mr. Cooper was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Cooper, who were well known pioneers of Madison county. Mr. Cooper has been in very poor health for the last several years.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon (Thursday) at two o’clock at Union Chapel by Rev. Moore of Patterson.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife and eight children, Stella Land, Charles, and Ray of the Patterson neighborhood, George of St. Charles, Gertrude Haines of Dunlap and Henry, Helen and Opal, who are still at home.
