Page 9Ida May Kalb was born March 2, 1868, at Olney, Richland county, Ill. At the age of fourteen she came to Iowa with her parents and located on a farm near Earlham. On February 10, 1887, she was united in marriage to J. A. Houseworth. To this union were born two children, Ollie May, died at the age of one year and 8 months, and Hayden A., now fourteen years of age.
After an illness of three weeks, she passed away at 7:40 a.m. March 15, 1915, aged 47 years and 13 days. She is survived by her husband, J. A. Houseworth, son Hayden, mother, Mrs. E. J. Kalb, and two sisters, Mrs. Kittie Cochrane of Stuart and Mrs. Emma Cross of Des Moines. Mrs. Houseworth united with the Church of Christ seventeen years ago and has lived a consistent Christian life, and was a faithful, unselfish wife, and a loving mother.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church at ten o’clock a.m. March 17 and the remains laid at rest by the side of her little daughter in the Penn Center cemetery, Rev. Hottell, the pastor had charge of the services.
The pall bearers were Bert McIntyre, Allen Jones, Levi Jones, R. Tassell, Ray Brown and W. J. Taylor.
The floral offerings were beautiful and many and were contributed by the I.O.O.F., the W.C.F.C., the Dale Aid society, Hayden’s schoolmates and teacher, the family, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. McCurdy of Des Moines, Mrs. Halley and Mrs. Potter.
