Daniel Wheeler Sydnes, 67, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center Downtown in Des Moines, IA.

Daniel was born May 31, 1949, in Des Moines, IA, to Stanley and Mollie (Wheeler) Sydnes.

Daniel liked arts and crafts and colors and birthdays (especially the cake!). He always remembered all of his family members' birthday dates -- never forgot a one of them.

Daniel loved his room at the home where he lived. It was important to him to have his room well organized, to display his own artwork and creations, and that is where he enjoyed listening to his radio. He loved a variety of colors so much that his room had been repainted many different times, often in bright colors.

Daniel is survived by his sister, Priscilla (Wayne) Van Heuvelen of Urbandale, Iowa; brother, Paul S. (Judy) Sydnes of Des Moines, Iowa; nephew, Matt (Kaylene) Van Heuvelen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their daughter, Katie; and niece, Melissa (Joe) Carrington of Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley B. and Mollie Eva Sydnes.
