News has come to Mrs. Mary Tidrick of the death of Mrs. Sarah Jones Mitchell in Sawtelle, California, on December 28. Mrs. Mitchell had been a sufferer from rheumatism for years which, with her advanced age, resulted in death. For many years, she taught first grade in the old stone building in the south ward numbering among her pupils many well known men and women of this locality.

Coordinator's note: From Dallas County Marriage Records and her Civil War Widow's pension, her maiden name was Sarah Jane Rodenbach. The origin of the "Jones" in this obituary is unknown. Per the Civil War Pension documents, she was buried in the Sunset Cemetery, Sawtelle, California.
