Page 1Erwin McNichols, son of John and Aseneth McNichols, was born July 18th, 1872 in Morgan County, Indiana. He came to Earlham, Iowa in 1880. Here he lived for a few years. Since 1884 he lived around Stuart most of the time. His word was always dependable, always being able to secure work from those whom he had before been employed. He was a man who read his Bible much. He took a definite stand for Christ a few years ago.
He leaves one sister, Alice Hadley, of Stuart; three half-brothers, Lindley A., and Allen T., both of Pasadena, California; and Alonzo J. of Oskaloosa, Iowa; also one half-sister, Emma Bower, of Britton, Oklahoma; seven nieces and six nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hanson. Interment was in Earlham.
The pall bearers were: Wilbur Harlan, Levi Jones, Marion Brinton, Fred Whittum, Arthur Whittum and John Stephens. These men were some of the men whom Mr. McNichols had worked for.
The music for the funeral was furnished by the male quartette of the M. E. church. The selections used were “Nearer My God to Thee”, “Abide With Me” and “Rock of Ages.” Rev. Hanson gave a short address based upon Heb. 9:27.
