Macksburg

Several from the community attended funeral services for Mrs. Vera Kirkland in Creston on Saturday morning. Burial was at Moon cemetery.

Vera Kirkland dies at 66

Mrs. Vera Kirkland, 66, died Thursday at her apartment over 208 North Maple street in Creston. Born Aug. 30, 1908, in Madison county, she had lived in Madison and Adair counties before moving to Creston in 1960. She was the daughter of Frank and Emma Penn McLarnand.

Mrs. Kirkland is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Thelma) Pettet of Creston and Mrs. Don W. (Myrtle) Thompson of Greenfield, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Albert McLarnand of Milo and Wallace McLarnand of Creston, and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Dorthy) Cameron of Creston and Mrs. Lloyd (Wanita) Linn of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Mrs. Kirkland was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, for which memorial are suggested.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Cecil Gieselman will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.

Vera Kirkland funeral today

The funeral for Mrs. Vera V. Kirkland, 66, of Creston, was held at 10 a.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene here. Rev. Cecil Gieselman, the pastor, officiated. Music was by Mrs. Cecil Gieselman who played “How Great Thou Art” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Casket bearers were Dale Young, Warren Kirkland, Dwayne Linn, George Kirkland, Romayne Linn and Albert McLarnands, Jr. Burial was in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg. The Keating-Lindsay funeral home was in charge of the service.

Mrs. Kirkland died at her apartment above 208 north Maple street Thursday. She had lived in Madison and Adair counties before moving to Creston in 1960.
