Hope Anna Rippey was born October 7, 1846 in Salem county, N. J., and died in Union county, Iowa, July 24, 1912, aged 65 years, 9 months and 17 days.

She came with her parents from New Jersey to Illinois where they spent three years after which they came to Iowa. She was married in Madison county, Iowa, Jan. 28, 1864 to N. W. Loehr. To this union were born seven children: three boys, Willis, of Willsdale, Wyo.; Dan and Willard of Madison county, Iowa; four girls, Nora, who died in 1902; Mary of Trotters, N. D.; Effie, of Enid, Okla.; Lulu of this county.

For the past two years, Mrs. Loehr has been in poor health but for the past four months she has been confined to her bed. She was a great sufferer but there was never a complaint.

She united with the Protestant Methodist church with her husband the year after she was married and continued in that church until her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband and the six children, fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Thus has closed a long life of devoted service. She was a loving wife and helpmate and a tender and affectionate mother. She will be missed in the home circle, but she will be waiting in heaven to meet her loved ones. Funeral services were held at the Kasson church July 26th and interment in the Macksburg cemetery, Rev. Roy N. Spooner officiating.
