A graveside service for Floyd D. McAdow, 87, of Dickinson will be held later this spring in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND with military rites being presented. In accordance with Floyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Floyd passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Luke’s Home.

Floyd Dawn was born July 17, 1928 in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Hallene (Kerr) McAdow. He attended country school through the eighth grade and grew up on the family farm. As a young boy, Floyd worked on the family farm before enlisting in the US Marines. On October 2, 1950, Floyd married Jane Clara Colabresc. The couple made their home in Westminster, CO. They were blessed with three children, Clara, Floyd and Jack. Following Floyd’s honorable discharge from the Marines in 1952, he began working for PIE Truckline, where he continued to work for 42 years. Jane and Floyd spent their retirement traveling around the country with their fifth-wheel trailer. They later moved to Green Mountain, CO before moving to North Dakota, where they lived in Belfield, Bismarck and finally Dickinson. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and he was an avid Denver Broncos fan.

Floyd is survived by his children, Clara (Gene) Kasper of Belfield, Floyd (Cindy) McAdow of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Jack McAdow of Wheatridge, CO; grandchildren, Dawn (CJ) Kessel, Jay McAdow and Matt McAdow; great-granddaughter, Allyssia Kessel; brothers, Wayne (Margie) McAdow of Lakewood, CO, Jerry (Jane) McAdow of Westminister, CO, Harold (Jeanie) McAdow of Clamoth Falls, OR; sister-in-law, Bobbi Jo McAdow of Squim, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Hallene; brother, Ernest McAdow.
