Arthur Brown Whitworth

Arthur Brown Whitworth, 92, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, December 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg, Iowa.

Born in Indianola, Iowa on April 5, 1924, Arthur spent his growing up years farming outside Macksburg, IA. He attended Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College (now Northwest Missouri State University) in Maryville, MO, where he met his wife, Evanell Walker. For most of his life, Arthur lived in Winterset and worked as a piano tuner and as an inventor.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Evanell Whitworth; daughters, Ilene W. Devlin of San Antonio, TX and Elaine Hamilton of Drexel, MO; three granddaughters, Erica Price of Tecumseh, KS, Amanda Shore of Shawnee, KS, and Crystal Buckingham of Olathe, KS; and his grandsons-in-law, Chad Price, Mark Shore, and Jeff Buckingham. In addition, Arthur has six great grandchildren, Christian and Cameron Price, Josie and Mason Shore, and Lauren and Jonathan Buckingham. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Mary Whitworth; brother, Milford Whitworth; and sister, Rachel Whitworth.

Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday with family receiving friends from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset is in charge of arrangements.
