April 16, 1927 - November 27, 2016Rex A. Morrison, 89, of Winterset, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3 at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in the Minburn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com.
Rex Anderson Morrison, son of Clarence and Hazel (Anderson) Morrison, was born April 16, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Tingley High School in 1945 and later served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Gladys Denman in November of 1952 and to this union five children were born, Michael, Terry, Dale, Glenn, and Linda.
Rex farmed for most of his life and worked for rock quarries for over 20 years. He enjoyed tending to the farm, cutting down trees, and watching TV. Rex especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael Morrison, Terry Morrison, Dale Morrison, Glenn Morrison, and Linda (Rick) Armstrong all of Winterset; two sisters, Nina Eason of Mt. Ayr and Ardis Lanzilotta of Altoona; two granddaughters; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hazel Morrison; his wife Gladys Morrison in 2008; sisters, Crystal Whittington and Phyllis Smith.
