Page 5, Column 6Mrs. William H. DeButts, member of a prominent pioneer family in Madison County, died Saturday, July 20, at Sioux City following a heart attack. She was 71 years of age.
Mrs. DeButts was the former Vivian P. Robbins, daughter of Caleb A. and Eunice J. Banks Robbins. She was born in Winterset October 4, 1891.
She was graduated from Winterset high school with the class of 1909, and from Drake University in Des Moines in 1913.
She was married June 17, 1915, in Des Moines to W. H. DeButts of Melbourne. They lived in Des Moines until 1942, when they moved to Sioux City.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of Union Veterans, P.E.O, Sororis Study club, and the Women’s club of Sioux City. She was affiliated with Morningside Presbyterian Church there.
Surviving are her husband, W. H. DeButts, Jr. of Chicago, her sister, Mrs. Blanche Risher of Winterset; and two nephews, Gordon Risher of Winterset and Robbins Risher of Monrovia, Liberia.
Funeral services were held Monday from Morningside Presbyterian Church with burial in Memorial park at Sioux City.
