Chester W. Scott, son of Joseph T. and Nancy R. Scott, was born March 3, 1891 on a farm near Barney. When but a small child, he moved with his parents to Barney, living there until 1911, when they moved to Benton, Iowa, where his parents still reside.

On March 15, 1915 he was married to Miss Faye Ringgenberg of Rockwell City. To this union were born two sons: Leland Harold, aged 5, and DeLoss Gerald, aged 4 years; who with their mother, are mourning the loss of a loving father and husband. He also leaves his father, mother, five sisters: Mrs. Stella Ergenbright of Gildford, Mont.; Mrs. Ada Stifel of Booneville, Iowa; Mrs. Elsie Groves of Benton, Iowa; Mrs. Lena Blunck of Des Moines, and Ruth Virginia, at home with her parents; also two brothers, Frank M. of Benton and Charles T., of St. Charles, besides an aged grandmother and other relatives and a host of friends.

Chester was taken sick five years ago last November with the flu, from the effects of which tuberculosis of the spine followed. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done, but to no avail and on Sunday, Aug. 26, 1923 he quietly and peacefully passed on at the age of 32 years, 5 months and 23 days.

On July 2, 1921, he united with the Presbyterian church at Lytton, Iowa, to which church he was a devoted member. He fully realized his time had come to depart from earthly joys, sufferings and sorrows, and said he was ready and willing to go. Thus ends the life of one we knew and loved—Chester W. Scott.
