Robert L. Stout, son of Mrs. Lulu M. Stout, who formerly lived here, died in the Mercy hospital in Iowa City, about 7:30 o’clock Sunday night, May 16th, of heart infection, which followed a month’s illness with acute bronchial pneumonia.

Robert, as he was familiarly known in this community, was born and raised here, and was graduated from the local high school in 1917. He went to Kansas City for several years after his graduation. Upon the death of his father, A. L. Stout, he moved to Iowa City with his mother and brothers and he attended the University of Iowa. For the past year he has been employed in a clothing store in Iowa City. He took sick about a month ago with pneumonia and was recovering nicely from that, when heart infection set in.

Funeral services were held in Iowa City Tuesday evening at Hohenschuh’s Mortuary. The body was brought here and short funeral services conducted at the Church of Christ Wednesday morning, by Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Burial was made in the Rock City cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lulu M. Stout of Iowa City, and five brothers, George, who is teaching English in the University of Pittsburg, Pittsburg, Pa., Albert, who is in a department store at Mexico, Mo., Charles and Edwin, who are attending the University of Iowa at Iowa City, and Phillip, who is a senior in the Iowa City high school.
