Neighborhood News – St. Charles

The remains of Winfield Conn were brought back here for burial last Monday. He died at the home of his nephew, Alex Conn, in Des Moines, Saturday, May 3.

Mr. Conn lived on a farm south of town for a number of years, before going to Des Moines.

Transcriber's note: Full name from gravestone. The Polk County Death Record says he died on May 02. Also, the gravestone says he was born in 1853 but the Polk CDR says he was born in 1850. He was 5 years old in the 1856 census so the Polk CDR is likely correct and the gravestone in error.
