December 18, 1944 - September 26, 2016Mary Lee Spencer, 71, of Winterset, died on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family.
There are no services planned at this time and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
Mary Lee Spencer, daughter of Forest and Pauline (Paxton) Spencer, was born on December 18, 1944, in Winterset, Iowa. She attended the Winterset Schools and graduated from Winterset High in 1963. After graduation, Mary moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where she lived for most of her adult life.
Mary worked as a realtor and sold commercial property in St. Paul. She was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching games on TV. She had a sweet tooth and always had multiple flavors of ice cream in her freezer. Mary liked to collect little “sayings” or “phrases”, especially if they were humorous. Mary would often laminate things and mail them to friends and relatives. Above all else, she was a loving daughter, sister and friend who cherished the time spent with the people close to her.
Mary is survived by four siblings, Ruth (Don) Taylor of Des Moines; Paul (Sandy) Spencer of Springfield, OH; John Spencer of Norwalk; Mark (Peg) Spencer of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Marilyn Spencer of Peru; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Pauline Spencer and her brother, David Spencer.
