March 1905

Last Friday our citizens were greatly suprised to learn of the death of Mrs. G. J. James of the city, as but few people even knew of her illness of less than a weeks duration. Her death was from blood poisining, and came so unexpectedly, that her husband a few hours before had notified her parents by letter that she was getting better. Her death came as a shock to the little community, all of whom deeply sympathize with the bereaved husband and four motherless little children. Mrs. James had a large circle of friends in this vicinity, and her funeral which was conducted by Rev. Williams in the Christian church Saturday was very largely attended. A sketch of her life has been handed us by the minister by the minister which copy herewith and as follows:

Ida E. Nicoson was born in Illinois, Dec. 14th, 1875, died at East Peru, Iowa, March 10th 1905. She Came to Iowa with her parents in 1876 and grew to womanhood in and about Hanley. She was converted at Bridgeport when quite a girl and joined the M.E. church at the age of fifteen years, afterwards she and her husband joined the Christian church at this place. She lived a faithful member until the the end came. Was united in marriage to G. J. James Feb. 24th, 1897. There was born to them four children, Lloyd S., Susie E., Reva O., Della R. The husband and the above named children survive her, bseides three brothers and three sisters, and father and mother. All were present save one sister who lived in Dakota. In her death the children have lost a devoted mother, the husband a faithful wife, the church a consistant and consecrated member.
