St. Charles and Roundabout

On the twenty fourth inst. occurred the death of Nicholas Shaver, who has been a resident of South township for more than fifty two years, during much of the time he has been active in the business of farming and stock-raising, and has contributed in small share in the development of this part of Madison county. He was noted for his industry and honesty and died respected by all who knew him. He was born in Virginia on Christmas day of A.D. 1810.

His funeral occurred from the home where he settled and began to improve in 1852. Services by Rev. Proudfit of this city and burial in the Steel grave yard, near by on the twenty sixth inst.
