Mrs. Atkins and daughter, Carrie were called to Des Moines Friday in the death of their husband and father, who died April 7th, at the sanitarium at Sailorsville, where he had been several years. The body was brought here Saturday evening and funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 in the M. E. church.

COUNTY NEWS – St. Charles

John W. Atkins, who for the past 14 years has been under treatment at a hospital in Des Moines, died Thursday night. His body was brot to his home here on Saturday where it remained until Monday afternoon when it was placed in its last resting place in the St. Charles cemetery.

Mr. Atkins was a man of many commendable traits, a kind, loving husband and father, loved by all those who knew him for his cheery and sacrificing spirit and his ever readiness to render assistance when and wherever needed. His wife and several children survive him, aside from many warm friends.
