Catherine Alice, eldest child of John and Elizabeth Houseworth, was born in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, December 19, 1857, being 84 years, 11 months and 6 days at the time of her death, which occurred at the home of her son, Frank Nevitt, of Guthrie Center, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1942.

When a young girl she moved with her parents to Earlham, Iowa, where on March 6, 1887, she was united in marriage to Frank Nevitt, Sr. To this union 3 children were born. One son died in infancy, the daughter, Lula, departed this life at the age of 21 years and the remaining son, Frank, with whom she spent her declining years. She parted with her companion in November 1934.

Surviving are the son, daughter-in-law, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and the many nephews and nieces who so lovingly called her Aunt Cassie.

She united with and held membership in the Christian church.

She was a kind, loving wife and mother, uncomplaining when the cares of life seemed too heavy to bear and always faithful to every trust. She was quiet and unassuming by nature, yet she bravely faced whatever should come. Her life was thru loving service to others. Of her can be said, she hath done what she could.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hanson from the Linn Funeral home on Thursday, November 26th. Burial at Penn Center.

Friends and relatives from out of town at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Gilbert, of Earlham; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Griffen and son, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hutchins from Guthrie Center.
