Remains of Alfred R. Simmons to be Taken to Ohio for Burial—Died Sunday.
Alfred R. Simmons, who has made his home in the north part of Bourbon county for the past four years, died Sunday at the home of his son Edwin, two and a half miles west of Hammond, of general debility. The deceased was born on November 27th, 1832 and is survived by seven children, three of whom reside in this county. They are Wesley I., Edmund and Edwin who reside north of Fort Scott a few miles; Ora and Joshua who reside in Iowa; Mrs. F. R. Smith of Winfield and Mrs. Nettie Oglesby of Peru, Iowa.
The funeral services were held from the home this morning at 10 o’clock and were conducted by Rev. Atherton, pastor of the Methodist church of Fulton. The deceased had been a member of the Methodist church for more than fifty years. The body was taken to Hammond and from there to Peru, Iowa, where burial will be made.

Alfred R. Simmons died at his home seven and one-half miles northwest of Fort Scott, March 17, 1912. General debility and decline was the cause of death.
The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday morning, March 19 at 10 o’clock conducted by Rev. Atherton, of Fulton, Kansas, pastor of the Methodist church of that city. The deceased had been a member of the Methodist church for over fifty years. The hymns sang at the services were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “We’ll ever Say Good Bye in Heaven,” “Nearer My God to Thee,” and “Rock of Ages.”
Alfred R. Simmons was born in Ohio November 27th, 1832 and his age at the time of death was 79 years, 3 months and 21 days. He was married to Mary Catherine Waln April 2nd, 1853. He is survived by seven children, five sons and two daughters. They are Wesley, Edmond and Edwin, of Bourbon county; Ora and Joshua who reside in Iowa; Mrs. F. R. Smith of Winfield, Kas.; and Mrs Nettie Oglesby of Peru, Iowa.
His wife died a few years before he came to Bourbon county. He has resided on the farm where he died since coming to the county from Iowa four years ago.
The body was taken to Peru, Iowa, for burial in the family lot by the side of the loved ones that have passed on before.

Edwd. Simmons and family, who came up from Ft. Scott, Kans., last March with the body of their father, Al Simmons, who was buried in the Ebenezer cemetery have been visiting with relatives ever since, returned to their home the first of the week.
