William T. Mobley

William T. Mobley was born in Fremont county, Iowa, October 12, 1846, and departed this life at his home in Valley Junction on Saturday morning, March 6, 1915, aged 68 years, 4 months and 22 days.

He was left an orphan at the age of 5, and lived with his grandmother until he enlisted in the civil war, February 6, 1864 at Bloomington, Illinois, in the Twenty-sixth regiment, Company K, infantry. He served till the end of the war, being honorably discharged in July, 1865.

On the 24th of January, 1878, he was married to Miss Cynthia Blighton of Madison county, Iowa, where they resided until 1906, when they came to Valley Junction. To this union were born nine children, Louis, Josephine, Carl, Mrs. Margaret McKibben, Raymond, Mrs. Ethel Evans, Mrs. Maye Hartman, Kenneth and Edith, all of this city except Margaret whose home is in Earlham, Iowa. The widow and children all being left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.

Mr. Mobley was well known in Valley Junction and leaves many friends to mourn his death. He leaves four grandchildren, two living at Earlham and two in Valley Junction.
