Died:--In Stuart May 18th, 1883, Rev. A. C. Armstrong, aged 79 years, 1 month, and 21 days.

Mr. Armstrong was born in Sussux county, New Jersey, in 1804. His parents removed to Ohio in 18-8, where he resided until 1868, when he removed to Penn township, Madison county, where he resided until January 1882 since which time he has been a resident of Stuart.

He was a local preacher in the M. E. church for forty years prior to his death. In this capacity he rendered efficient service to the church, laboring at one time as a missionary among the Wyandott Indians in Ohio.

He was married twice, and by each marriage eight children were born to him, fourteen of which survive him. Of this number are John and Alex Armstrong and Mrs. Farrell, who reside in Stuart. Of grandchildren he had sixty-two, and great grandchildren eight.

For twenty years previous to his death Mr. Armstrong was a great sufferer. So crippled with rheumatism as to be unable to walk for seventeen years of his time, and for the last fourteen years afflicted with paralysis.

Mr. Armstrong was of genial and hopeful temperament and a consistent Christian. His severe afflictions were borne with patient submission and without complaint. The remains were taken to Penn Center on Sabbath for burial. Rev. Detwiler of this place conducted the services.
