Diane R. Smith, 51, of Afton, died at her home in Afton.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Powers Funeral Home 612 N. Dodge in Afton. Burial will be at St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery in Afton.
Open visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established.
Diane Rene (Myers) Smith, daughter of Loren Dwight Myers and Frances Elizabeth (Lehmer) Myers was born on January 6, 1965 in Winterset, Ia. She graduated from Orient-Macksburg High school with the class of 1983 and attended SWCC for two years obtaining her Associates Degree in the healthcare field.
On October 27, 1989, Diane was united in marriage to Patrick James Smith at the Methodist Church in Macksburg, Ia. This union was blessed with one daughter, Ashley. Diane worked as a certified nursing assistant in health care at nursing homes and with home health.
In her younger years, Diane attended Macksburg Methodist Church and while in Afton, the United Methodist Church.
Diane is survived by her husband Jim Smith; daughter Ashley Smith (significant other Rennie Johnson) of Deltaville, Va.; brother Steven (wife Catherine) Myers of Creston; step mother Ardis Myers of Winterset; mother-in-law Pat Smith of Afton; brothers-in-law, Dennis (wife Janet) Smith of Afton and Terry (wife Lisa) Smith of Afton; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (husband Tom) Hansen of Arispe and Nancy (husband Tim) Allen of New Market; her dogs, Sally and Sadie; her cat Oreo; along with many step-sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her mother Frances Myers and father Loren Myers and father-in-law Mike Smith.
