Loren (Chris) Christensen, 85, of Des Moines, formerly of Winterset, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the VA Hospital.
There will be no services. Burial of the cremains will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
Loren was born Feb. 18, 1931 to Julius (Jake) and Emma (Huston) Christensen, the middle son of three boys.
After graduation in 1950 Chris joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
In January 1953 he married Darlene Kirby, daughter of George and Amanda (Brooker) Kirby. Loren and Darlene lived in California and raised three sons and a grandson. In 1997 they returned to Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas; and a brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Wayne and Keith; his brother, Bill; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
