Dean Alan Hauschildt, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 15, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
After 42 years of service, Dean retired from State Farm as an agent in 2008. Dean was a volunteer for the Saint Charles Fire Department, Windsor Heights Fire Department, and the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. He was a member of the Windsor Heights Lions Club and Living Faith Lutheran Church. Dean was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended Grandview College in Des Moines.
A private family burial will be held at the Saint Charles Cemetery, Saint Charles, Iowa. A celebration of life will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday June 18 at the West Des Moines Community Center, 217 5th St., West Des Moines, Iowa.
Dean is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cindy; children, Matt of Sioux Falls, SD, David of West Des Moines, IA, James (Kianna) Hauschildt of Mason, OH, Ryan (Becky) Howell of Chanhassen, MN and Kim Howell-Tilley (Jeff) Tilley of Des Moines; sister Carol Newsom of Windsor Heights; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bernice and son, Michael.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Iowa Railroad Historical Society in care of Dean Hauschildt, P.O. Box 603 Boone, IA 50036. Online condolences may be expressed at caldwellparrish.com.
