Rev. WILLIAM "BILL" BRANSON, Winterset

1953 - 2016

Rev. William "Bill" F. Branson, 62, of Winterset, Iowa, died June 15, 2016, at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 18, at The Winterset Church of the Nazarene. Burial will take place 3 PM Saturday in the Main Station Cemetery at Moravia, Iowa.

Bill had been the minister of the Winterset Church of the Nazarene since 1989.

He is survived by his mother, Marie (Birkhead) Branson; wife, Terri Branson; son, Scott (Shalini) Branson; daughter, Carrie (Chris) Burgett, all of Winterset; and brothers, Robert Branson of Shenandoah and Barry Branson of Nebraska.

Visitation will be Friday from noon to 8 PM at The Church of the Nazarene with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

WILLIAM 'BILL' F. BRANSON, Winterset

The Rev. William 'Bill' F. Branson, 62, of Winterset died June 15 after an extended battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held June 18 at the Winterset Church of the Nazarene, pastor Chris Burgett officiating. Burial was at the Moravia Fairview Cemetery. Services were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home.

Bill was born in Oskaloosa on Sept. 6, 1953. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and went on to receive a bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries at Vennard College in University Park.

Bill was married to Terri Lynn McKern on March 10, 1973; they were married 43 years.

'Pastor Bill' took his first and only pastorate at the Winterset Church of the Nazarene on April 1, 1989 where he devoted his life to sharing the gospel of Christ until he retired in January of 2016. Bill spent many years serving as chaplain for Winterset QHC Care Centers North and South.

He is survived by his wife, Terry; son Scott (Shalin) Branson; daughter Carrie (Chris) Burgett; his mother Marie, all of Winterset; brothers Robert ( Charlotte) of Shenandoah and Barry (Pat) Branson of Bellevue Neb. He was preceded in death by his father, Grover.

Memorials may be made too the family. The family wishers to thank the staff of Hospice of Central Iowa and Winterset QHC Care Center North.
