Older residents of this community, will remember Geo. Turbett, who was one of Madison county's old time school teachers and later city Marshall of Winterset. Since leaving Winterset, Mr. Turbett has resided in Des Moines where he died on Monday of this week. His wife, two daughters and four sons survive him.

George Turbett, a former Winterset carpenter, died at his home in Des Moines Sunday night, of heart disease. For many years he has been employed in Des Moines.
He was a member of the first baseball team ever organized in Winterset and was short-stop during the famous game between the Athletics of Des Moines and the Actives of Winterset.
Turbett had been in ill health for several weeks.
