TRURO MAN KILLED IN GAS LINE BLAST

Dale Swan, aged 39, of Truro, was killed and Cliff Halterman, also of Truro, was injured, in a high-pressure natural gas line explosion near LaSalle, Ill., last Thursday.

The Truro men were members of a crew which was working on the pipe line. The explosion killed six workmen and injured 10 others.

The men had cut into the pipe line and removed a 30-foot section, preparatory to installing connections for a future extension of the line. They had plugged the pressure end with a pipe-end, but it did not hold and was blown off, hurling some of the men 80 feet in the air.
