Mrs. Anna Malone Dead

Word has been received here that Mrs. Anna Malone, mother of B. F. Malone of Grove Township and Tom Malone of Wiota, passed away at Alexander, S. D., yesterday, where she has been making her home with her children. Her death was very sudden and unexpected, the relatives here having no intimation of her illness.

She will be remembered by many, in fact, by all of the Pioneers of this county as she and her husband came here at an early day. They emigrated from Ohio, and located in Madison county, this state, in the year 1868, then coming on to this county the following year 1869. Her husband Thomas Malone died February 6, 1881 and is buried here in the Atlantic cemetery.

No funeral arrangements have yet been made, but in all probability the remains will be brought her for interment by the side of her late husband.

MISS ANNA MALONE DEAD

WORD RECEIVED HERE OF DEATH OF FORMER CASS COUNTY WOMAN AT ALEXANDRIA, S. D.

Was 85 Years of Age and Had Been a Long Time Resident of County Prior to Removing to South Dakota

The relatives have received a telegram this morning telling of the death yesterday morning at Alexandria, S. D., where she had made her home for three years with her children, of Mrs. Anna Malone, mother of ten children, many of whom live in this county, and a long time resident of this county, prior to her departure for South Dakota three years ago.

Mrs. Malone was about eighty-five years of age and as stated left this county for South Dakota about three years ago. She was the widow of the late Thos. Malone, who died twenty-nine years ago, and with her husband located in this county nearly forty years ago. She had made her home since going to Alexandria, with her children there. Mrs. Malone leaves ten children, thirty-one grand children and two great grand children.

Coordinator's note: Maiden name from Cass County Death Records for two of her sons. Census and birth records indicate that the family left Madison County for Cass County in late 1872 or early 1873 rather than the 1869 given in this obituary.
