VICKY JO ATKINSON, Winterset

September 13, 1958 - April 9, 2016

Vicky Atkinson, 57, of Winterset, died April 9, 2016 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at the Winterset Cemetery in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Victoria Jo Reed, daughter of Richard “Dick” and Bonnie (Green) Reed, was born September 13, 1958 in Des Moines. Vicky attended the Winterset School System and graduated from Winterset High School in 1976. She worked a variety of jobs including St. Paul Insurance, Four Sons Convenient Store and the Dollar General Store.

Vicky was united in marriage with Kory Atkinson in the Zion Church at the Madison County Historical Complex on July 29, 1994. Two sons were born to this union, Dillon and Noah. Vicky enjoyed bird watching, deer watching, planting flowers and adult coloring pictures. She was very close to her twin sister Valarie, who died in 2012. Above all else, Vicky was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who cherished nothing more than the time spent with her family and friends.

Vicky is survived by her husband, Kory Atkinson of Winterset; two sons, Dillon Atkinson of Winterset and Noah Atkinson of Winterset; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Bonnie; sisters, Valarie McDonald, Tina Reed in infancy; and brother, Richard Reed, Jr. in infancy.
