Mrs. Etta Shearer was taken very sick on Friday with a complication of diseases. She is now under the care of Dr. Griffith and a nurse from Des Moines. There is no hope for her recovery.

PeruMrs. Etta Shearer died early on the morning of the 9th, after a brief, but severe illness of one week. She left a brilliant testimony in favor of the sustaining grace of God in the last hours of life. We will miss her, but our loss is her eternal gain.

Page 1Obituary of Mrs. R. F. Shearer
Rebecca Fayette McKee was born May 5, 1855 in Washington county, Va., and died at her home in Peru, Nov. 9, 1911. She came with her widowed mother to Madison county, Ia., in 1872. She was converted and joined the M. E. church of Peru in 1879 and has been a faithful member ever since.
She was married to Ira S. Shearer, Nov. 4, 1886 and was bereft of her husband in March 1902. She is survived by three sons: Walter, Claude and Clyde, and one grandson; also three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. W. H. Barbary, Z. T. McKee, Mrs. A. W. Niatt, J. R. McKee and Mrs. J. W. Gabion.
The funeral occurred Friday at 10 o’clock at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. H. W. Brewer and was largely attended. Interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
