Peru Happenings

Relatives and friends from this community attended funeral services for George Simmons at the Methodist church in Lorimor Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery. The Simmons family lived near Peru before going to Lorimor a few years ago.

George Simmons Died at his Home March 10

George Simmons, 61, who lived southwest of Lorimor passed away at his home early Monday morning, March 19, after suffering a heart attack a few days before. Mr. Simmons was born near Peru, Iowa, and spent his entire life in Union and Madison counties. He is survived by his wife, the former Nellie Emerson; two sons, Claude of Winterset and Paul of Des Moines; and a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Wilson of Marion, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Wilkins in charge. Interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
