Col. W. A. Jenkins, a resident of Winterset in an early day, died suddenly of heart failure in Chicago last Thursday while addressing the Midday Club of veterans of the civil war. Mr. Jenkins was an intimate friend of President Lincoln and was recounting incidents of their personal acquaintance when he fell on the platform and expired.
He was a brother of Mrs. Dr. Davisson late of this place and was 82 years of age.
