John Barber, an old settler fell dead on the road Tuesday. He had been helping with some work in the country and had started home alone. The funeral is being held today.

John Barber, who for many years lived in the Union Chapel neighborhood dropped dead in the road Monday evening. He had spent the day at the Union Chapel cemetery, where he had been caretaker and was returning home after a day's work when he was stricken. He was one of the early settlers of this county.
