Jeanne J. Anderson, Des Moines

Jeanne J. Anderson, 86, formerly of West Des Moines, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.

Jeanne was born on May 9, 1929 in Des Moines to Alfred Dana Jewell and Helen (McClurg) Jewell. She grew up in St. Charles. Jeanne earned a Bachelor's Degree at Central College in Pella. She married M. Robert (Bob) Anderson on March 29, 1952, and from this union, 4 sons were born.

Jeanne worked in the home, raising her 4 boys, and then worked as an administrative assistant for The University of Iowa School of Social Work in Des Moines. She was very involved in her Scottish heritage. She volunteered for multiple organizations in Des Moines and also Prescott, AZ after retirement. Jeanne enjoyed cooking and baking, and collecting Indian jewelry and art. But above all, Jeanne loved her husband, boys, and grandchildren.

Jeanne is survived by her brother, John Jewell of Edmonds, WA; sons, Scott (Anne) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Steven (Patty) of Des Moines, Stanley (Jeanice) of Van Meter, and Stuart (Beth) of Homewood, IL; and grandchildren, Erika, Erin, Maxim, Irina, Ian, and Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bob, and her parents.
