MICHAEL “MAC” RAY McDONALD, Des Moines

Mac McDonald, 61, died February 24, 2016,

Michael Ray McDonald was born April 4, 1954, in St. Charles, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Eugene and Wilmarie Strawn McDonald.

Mac attended Central College at Pella, Iowa and received his master degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska. He was a professor of Psychology at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls and retired in May 2015 after 37 years.

Mac's passions were teaching, bicycle riding, desert hiking, music, and loving his family and friends. He belonged to the Butt Ice bicycle team and played the hammered dulcimer with Hogan's Goat and the Log Village Porch Players.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Justin) Wygle of Fort Dodge, wife Leilani of Iowa Falls, her sons Travis (Andrea) Cummings of Marshall, NC, and Ansel Cummings of Iowa City, mother Wilmarie of St. Charles, brothers Galen (Kris) McDonald of Owatonna, Mn, and John (Susie) McDonald of St. Charles, and sister Nancy (Gary) McClimen of Des Moines.. Also surviving are grandson Alaric Cummings of Iowa City, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, former wife Cynthia Forr of Iowa Falls (mother of his daughter).

He was preceded in death by his father and his wife's son Stiles Cummings.
