HELEN JUNE YOUNG, St. Charles

June 27, 1923 - Feb 10, 2016

Helen June Young, daughter of Orville Orin Byers and Pearl (Andrews) Byers was born June 27, 1923 in Maxwell, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Winterset Care Center South at 92 years of age.

Helen attended school in Polk County and graduated from Bondurant High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Milton Young on November 1, 1946 at Bondurant, IA and four children Roger, Larry, Linda and Judy blessed this union.

She lived her entire married life in St. Charles. She worked at Solar Aircraft before she was married and then became a stay at home mom and farmwife. She also worked at Brooks Grocery Store for a brief time. She was a member of the St. Charles Parish church and participated in the Women's Groups of the Church and was a longtime Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Singles Club in St. Charles as well as the Quilters and the Campers Club.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening and fishing with Milton and the grandchildren. Helen enjoyed working in the apple orchard each fall and loved making pies with the apples she harvested. Helen loved the Iowa State Fair and each summer the grandchildren each got to stay a night or two at the campgrounds. Helen loved to cook and always had treats ready as well as a meal and made sure the farm hands and Milton were well fed..

Those relatives who preceded Helen in death were her parents; husband, Robert Milton Young; step-grandson, Jeff Young, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and William Young.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Roger (Sheryl) Young, Larry (Sherry) Young; daughters, Linda (Randy) Bittner, Judy (Tom) Young all of St. Charles, IA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sister, Lenora Morrow of St. Charles, IA; brothers-in-law, Horace Young of St. Charles, IA and James Young of Ames, IA; as well as other relatives and many friends.
