St. Charles
Two weeks ago last Sunday the burial of James Trotter took place at the cemetery near town. Something like a year ago Mr. Trotter moved to Western Nebraska. he formerly owned a good farm near St. Charles, but disposed of it prior to going to Nebraska. Mr. Trotter, while not a man of Letters, was well informed upon current topics and had good judgement in matters pertaining to the farm.

But a few years ago he belonged to the honored four Mexican war veterans of South township. The first called to the immerable [sic] host where endless peace prevails was Marion Lee. Now Mr. Trotter follows where the smoke and terrors of battle are unknown.

Transcriber's note: Buried in the St. Charles Cemetery, grave unmarked.
