Thursday, December 22, 1955John Allen Lorenzen, son of John and Elizabeth Taylor Lorenzen, was born in Madison county, Iowa on January 24, 1890 and departed this life in the Dexter hospital on December 16, 1955 at the age of 65 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
He grew to manhood and received his education in Dexter. He lived in Dexter since, with the exception of the years spent in military service.
On September 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to Opal Myers of Dexter. The marriage rites took place in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Mr. Lorenzen leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Opal, three brothers: Robert C., of Dexter, and Gus T. and Fred L. of North Star, Alberta, Canada, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Lorenzen of Truro, two nephews, an aged aunt, Miss Rose Taylor of Monroe, and a host of friends.
He had been in ill health for the past three months, and had borne his suffering patiently and uncomplainingly.
Mr. Lorenzen was a devoted husband and a kind neighbor, and will be missed by all who knew him. He took an active part in the improvement and betterment of the town, and served on the town council for 22 years. He had been employed in the Jensen Hardware for a number of years. He was a member of the American Legion.
